Going Deep Blue

Bristol Aquarium will be showcasing some of the marine world’s most impressive inhabitants as part of their new ‘The Deep Blue’ event which runs over the half term holiday (May 23rd – 31st).
From ocean heavyweights and colossal creatures to slimy squid and lurking legends there’s oceans of underwater fun just waiting to be discovered.
With nine daily activities taking place throughout the holidays there’s plenty for visitors of all ages to enjoy.
Youngsters can have a whale of a time as they go in search of an assortment of mini-cetaceans in the aquarium’s sandpit and discover all about these extraordinary ocean giants.
As well as the aquarium’s own resident sharks there will be special interactive talks and displays highlighting the oceans’ ultimate predators.
Visitors will be able to walk the shark line and discover just how big some shark species, including the extinct, megalodon, really are.
Those with a strong stomach can watch a small squid dissection in the Learning Lab as staff talk about the elusive, but very real, giant squid.
Aquarists will also be on hand to help unravel some mysteries of the deep with special truth or fiction talks. Find out more about Atlantis, the Bermuda Triangle, the legendary Kraken and lots more.
Every day finishes with a hands-on challenge to place some of the oceans’ heaviest creatures at the right ocean depth.
