FEED AMAZONIAN GIANTS AT BRISTOL AQUARIUM

Visitors to Bristol Aquarium are being invited to come face to face with some real river monsters as part of the February Half Term activities (Saturday, February 15th- Sunday, February 23rd).
Giants of the Amazon is a fascinating exploration of the amazing aquatic wildlife,
showcasing some of the most awesome Amazonian species; from the infamous red-bellied piranhas to massive catfish and giant pacu.
The whistlestop tour to the tropical rainforests will be taking place in the spectacular surroundings of the Harbourside attraction’s very own living urban jungle – home to dozens of exotic South American plants and flowers.
With more than a dozen talks and activities taking place daily throughout the holidays, visitors will be able to help out at feeding time for the giant freshwater fish in their 60,000-litre open top display, find out the truth about piranhas and even get to create a turtle and an Amazonian jumping frog!
There will also be practical demonstrations on how the aquarists prepare food for all the different species and the chance to join special ‘behind the scenes’ tours.
Bristol Aquarium’s David Waines said: “In addition to all the Giants of the Amazon events, we’re also putting on a host of other fun and interactive talks and events for the holidays.
“There will be coral reef talks and feeds, the chance to meet our giant Pacific octopus and a fishy-themed story-time for younger visitors in front of our giant underwater viewing window at 4.30pm each day,” he added.
• Giants of the Amazon is on daily from Saturday, February 15th to Sunday, February 23rd at Bristol Aquarium, Anchor Road, Harbourside. For details call 0117 929 8929 or visit www.bristolaquarium.co.uk .
